“Russian Language with a Hawaiian Accent” by SIR alumnus Elena Sedova

Last year Dr. Elena Sedova returned from her Fulbright SIR program at University of Hawaii at University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, HI, USA. For the duration of 2016-2017 academic year, there Elena, who is Associate Professor, Department of Literature and Teaching Methods at Chelyabinsk State Pedagogical University (CSPU), taught Russian & Russian Literature as a Scholar-in-Residence grantee at the Languages & Literatures of Europe & the Americas Dpt., College of Languages, Linguistics & Literature.

The Fulbrighter keeps her professional ties with the host University and arranges numerous cultural events like “Russian Language with a Hawaiian Accent” which she hosted on October 13, 2017 for the visually impaired schoolchildren at the Chelyabinsk Regional Special Library for the Visually Impaired and Blind.

Not so recently, Elena also arranged a round table with Peter Stankiewicz, current grantee of the English Teaching Assistant (ETA) program. The meeting between the students and Fulbrighters took place at CSPU on March 6th, 2018.
